Leadership: A Look In the Mirror

New leaders just starting out on their leadership journey are often provided with support, feedback and help along the way. As years pass it can be harder to get real and honest feedback from those around you.

In his article titled, “What To Ask the Person In the Mirror”, Robert Kaplan provides 7 valuable questions for seasoned leaders to help them stay in touch with what is important:

  1. How often do I communicate a vision and key priorities to achieve that vision?

  2. Does the way I spend my time match my key priorities?

  3. Do I give people timely and direct feedback they can act on?

  4. Have I identified potential successors?

  5. Am I attuned to business changes that may required shifts in how we run the company?

  6. How do I behave under pressure?

  7. Does my leadership style reflect who I truly am?
